A shop in Rolla is often sized as if the door will be shut. The cassette or the package unit is then asked to hold the sales floor while the door stays open from late morning until close, with hot air and foot traffic moving through the opening the whole time. The coil can be clean and the gas charge can be right, and the entrance will still feel warm. Air-Con.ae, the marketing name of Burj Al Qasimiah AC units fix cont., treats that as a measurement job: what the unit does with the door shut, what it does with the door as you actually trade, and a written note of both. A bigger machine is not the first line on that note.
Street dust on a Rolla front also loads the coil, so the unit may be short of the capacity it was sold with before the door is even considered. Washing the coil and fitting an air curtain are separate pieces of work. Each one is priced before it is done. Neither one turns an open door into a closed room.

What the original load assumed
A cooling load for a small shop counts the glass, the lights, the people, and a modest amount of air leaking past a closed door. An open door on a Sharjah afternoon is a different sum. Air at outdoor temperature pours in at the top of the opening and conditioned air leaves along the floor, or the reverse, depending on wind and the unit’s throw. The coil then sees return air that keeps climbing. Supply air can still be cold at the grille directly under the cassette, while the first two metres inside the door never settle. Staff notice the counter. The thermostat, if it sits in the back office or in the supply, may be telling a calmer story.
We do not need a lecture about the door to find this. We need two sets of numbers. Door closed, unit running, return temperature and supply temperature written down after the coil has stabilised. Door returned to the way the shop actually trades, same two temperatures a few minutes later, plus a reading at the entrance and one at the till. If the closed-door test reaches a temperature you can live with and the open-door test does not, the coil is doing the job it was given. The opening is the extra load.
A dirty coil is still worth washing
Rolla fronts collect fine dust, and a shop that also has a small pantry or a grill adds grease on the indoor fins. A coil in that state cannot deliver the closed-door capacity either. We wash it, with the electrics protected, and we repeat the closed-door reading afterwards. If the supply was 16 degrees and lazy before the wash and nearer 12 degrees with a proper throw after it, the wash earned its place. If the open door then pulls the entrance back up, the wash did not fail. It removed one limit. The door is the other. Both results go on the same note so the next person does not wash the coil every week and expect the entrance to change.
What an air curtain actually changes
An air curtain blows a sheet of air down the opening so the indoor air and the street air mix more slowly. It is useful when the door must stay open for people to walk in. It has to cover the full width, point downward rather than into the shop or out into the street, and run while the door is open. A curtain that is shorter than the opening, or one that is switched off because it feels draughty at the threshold, does not show up in the numbers. We measure with it running and with it off, and we write the difference. If there is no curtain, we can quote one. The quote is for the curtain and the wiring, not for a promise that the till will read 22 degrees in July.
- Door closed, coil washed: this is the temperature the existing unit can hold.
- Door open, no curtain: this is the temperature the shop actually gets.
- Door open, curtain running: this is the gain the curtain is buying, if any.
The return grille matters as much as the curtain. A return placed beside the door drinks street air and feeds it straight to the coil. Moving the return deeper into the shop, where that is physically possible, lets the unit sample air that has mixed. We say so when we see it. We do not move ductwork under a “coil wash” price. It is its own line, agreed before anyone cuts.
Why a larger unit still fails if the door stays open
A bigger cassette or a second unit adds capacity. It also pulls harder on the opening if the return is near the door, and it still cannot refrigerate the street. On an all-day open door the new machine runs long, the entrance stays warmer than the back of the shop, and the electricity use rises. That is why the note says, in plain figures, that a larger unit is not offered as the cure while the door stays open all day. If you later enclose the front, or you add a second door and actually use it, the closed-door test is the number a replacement should be judged against. Until then the useful work is the wash, the curtain, and the return position.
Setpoint is part of the same note. Asking for 18 degrees at the entrance of an open Rolla shop makes the unit run without rest and does not create 18 degrees. We leave the setpoint at a figure the closed-door test showed the coil can approach, and we write that figure down. You can still choose a colder target. You will have the measurements in front of you when you do.

What the note contains
You should be able to read the visit without us in the room. The note names the unit, the supply and return with the door shut, the same readings with the door open, whether a curtain was already there, and what we did to the coil. It states that a larger unit was not quoted as the remedy for an all-day open door. If something else is wrong, a failed capacitor, a pump that is dumping water, a fan that is not at speed, that fault is a separate line with its own price. We do not fold it into a story about the door, and we do not fold the door into a story about gas.
How the visit is booked
Call +971 50 257 5128 and say it is a Rolla shop, how the door is kept during trading, and whether the complaint is the entrance, the whole floor, or a back room. We come while you can open and close the door for the two tests, which usually means before the rush or with someone who can mind the entrance for a few minutes. The workshop is in Industrial Area 6, opposite the cricket stadium. A cassette service starts from AED 180. A coil wash, an air curtain, or a second unit is quoted from what we measure, and the figure is written before parts are fitted.
Shops in Al Wahda and Abu Shagara with the same open front are the same job. A closed office is not. Commercial visits of this kind are set out on our commercial AC services in Sharjah page. If the unit is dead rather than merely unable to hold the door line, say that when you call so the first hour is spent on power and the fan, not on a curtain that has nothing to curtain.
The air handler and the ducted machine are covered as central AC services in Sharjah.
Keeping the same fault from returning is AC maintenance in Sharjah.
