The remote is pointed at the indoor split, the unit beeps, and then nothing happens. No fan, no outdoor compressor, no cold air. The beep is useful. It means the receiver accepted that press, so the remote is the last part to suspect, not the first. Air-Con.ae, the marketing name of Burj Al Qasimiah AC units fix cont., works through the safeties that stop a unit after it has already heard you. The workshop is opposite the cricket stadium in Industrial Area 6. The work is in Sharjah, and the price is written on site before any part is fitted.
What the beep proves
The indoor board has enough power to listen, and the infrared receiver saw a command it understood. A remote with flat batteries, a remote aimed at the ceiling, or a receiver that is dead does not produce that beep. If every press beeps and the machine still sits there, stop buying remotes. The command arrived. Something after the command is holding the outputs off. The usual holders are a float switch, a drain pump that did not clear the pan, an indoor fuse, or an outdoor isolator that is open.
There is one harmless version. Cool mode with the setpoint above the room temperature will beep and then wait, because the unit is already “cool enough” by its own sensor. Heat mode on a cooling-only split can do the same. Look at the mode and the number on the display before the casing comes off. If the setpoint is below the room and the fan still does not start, the beep has done its job and the fault is downstream.
Float switch
Most indoor units will not run the cooling circuit when the condensate pan is full. A float switch opens, the board accepts the remote, and it then refuses to start the fan and the outdoor unit. People hear the beep and read a dead machine. The pan is full of slime, a blocked hose, or water backed up from a hose with no fall. Emptying the pan by hand and leaving the blockage brings the float open again as soon as the coil produces water.
We look at the pan with the cover off before any board is discussed. If the float is up because the pan is wet, the drain is the repair. The switch is checked closed once the pan is empty. A switch that stays open in a dry pan is the part, and it is a small one. It is still priced in writing before it is changed. Bypassing the float so the unit will run is how a full pan becomes water down the wall. We do not bridge it. The indoor leak that follows is the same class of fault as a blocked drain on our split AC services in Sharjah visits.
Drain pump
Where the outlet is above the indoor unit, a small pump empties the pan. The float asks the pump to run. If the pump motor is dead, the impeller is jammed with slime, or the discharge hose is blocked, the pan fills and the float stays open. You may hear a short buzz and then the same silence after the beep. Replacing the remote does nothing. Replacing the indoor board does nothing until the pan can empty.
The pump is tested on its own, into a hose you can see, not assumed from the buzz. A pump that runs and moves no water has a failed impeller or a blocked outlet. A pump that does not run, with a float that is asking, is the motor or its supply. Either way the part is identified and the price is written before a new pump is fitted. A hose that rises, kinks, or joins a stack that is already full will destroy the next pump as well. The hose is proved with water, not only the new motor.
Indoor fuse
The control circuit that hears the remote can be alive while a fuse feeding the fan or the outdoor signal is open. The beep still happens. The fan does not start. On the indoor board that fuse is a small glass or blade fuse, often discoloured when it has opened. We test it out of circuit. A blown fuse is not ignored, and it is not the end of the visit, because fuses open for a reason. A shorted fan motor or a short on the output will open the next fuse at once. The motor winding and the board outputs are checked before a new fuse is left in place.
Fitting fuse after fuse until one “holds” is how a track on the board burns. If the fuse is open and the motor is sound, the fuse is the part. If the motor is shorted, the motor is the part and the fuse is only the symptom. Both prices are written before anything is fitted. A board is not condemned from a single open fuse.
Outdoor isolator
The indoor unit can be powered from its own supply while the outdoor isolator, the rotary switch beside the condenser, is off. Painters, cleaners, and a previous trip leave that switch open. The indoor board beeps, sends for cooling, and the outdoor unit never starts. From the room it is identical to a failed outdoor board. From the ledge it is a switch.
We check the isolator before we open the outdoor electrical panel. Off is off. If it has tripped rather than been switched, we do not keep resetting it. A trip means a fault current, and the compressor and the fan are tested before the switch is closed and left. Resetting it on the way out, with no measurement, is how a terminal heats later. That is a different job from a float switch, and it is not solved by a remote.

- Mode and setpoint, so a unit that is simply satisfied is not taken apart.
- Pan and float, with the drain proved by a pour, before any board.
- Pump, only if this unit actually has one, tested for water moved.
- Indoor fuse, then the motor it feeds, so a new fuse is not a guess.
- Outdoor isolator, seen with your eyes, before an outdoor board is discussed.

Receiver and remote, in that order
A receiver fault does not beep on every press. It beeps sometimes, or never, or the display does nothing while you are standing in front of it. Water from the pan onto the display board is a common reason. We dry and test that board before a new remote is sold. If a second remote, or the onboard button where the unit has one, produces the same beep and the same silence, the receiver has already proved itself and the fault is back at the float, the fuse, or the isolator.
The remote is last. Batteries, the slide switch over the battery door, a timer icon on the display, and a unit set to fan-only are real, and they take a minute. They do not survive a beep that the unit then ignores while the pan is full. We will show you the float or the open isolator so the part you approve is the one that stopped the machine. A new remote on top of a full pan is not a repair.
What we will not do to make it beep into life
We will not bridge a float, tie a pump float down, or hold an outdoor breaker in. Any of those starts the compressor with the safety already telling you to stop. If the indoor board is wet, it stays unpowered until it is dry and tested. If the fuse opens again on a shorted motor, the motor is quoted and the unit waits. emergency AC repair in Sharjah is for a flat that cannot wait, and the sequence is the same at night. The beep still means the remote was heard.
What to say when you call
Say that it beeps and does not start, and say whether you can see water under the unit or a switch off beside the outdoor cabinet. A photo of the display and of the outdoor isolator is enough. Call +971 50 257 5128. Parts come from the workshop in Industrial Area 6 if they are not on the van. You see the price before a pump, a fuse holder, a float, or a board is fitted. Most of these calls never reach the remote.
